Ukraine war raises questions for India

The Ukraine War defined 2022 for India and the world. It challenged prevailing assumptions about defence, foreign policy, economics and energy. Nothing has been quite the same since Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine in February this year. HT’s Shashank Mattoo takes a look at how India’s year was defined by the Ukraine war. Mattoo looks at the uncomfortable questions raised about India’s defence posture by examining the fighting in Ukraine. He also looks at how India’s foreign policy and diplomatic ties, both with the America-led West and with Moscow, were severely tested by the war. He also examines the economic fallout of the war on India’s growth prospects.
