'Hero of Ram Janmabhoomi movement': Ex-UP CM Kalyan Singh no more

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh passed away after prolonged at a hospital in Lucknow. He was 89. Kalyan Singh was a 2-time CM of Uttar Pradesh but he shot to prominence during the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. At the time of demolition, he was the CM of U.P and had refused to act against the Karsaveks who razed the Babri mosque to ground. Kalyan Singh was an accused in the Babri demolition case but was acquitted by a CBI court last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid rich tributes to Kalyan Singh and called him a statesman. A 3-day state mourning has been declared in Uttar Pradesh by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
