Police have booked around 50 to 60 Youth Congress workers following a clash between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) at a university hostel. The incident took place at the College of Engineering, Pune hostel campus late on August 21, ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with female students at a city college. An FIR was registered on August 22 based on a complaint by an ABVP member. Police invoked provisions related to voluntarily causing hurt, unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation, among others. ABVP alleged NSUI workers were pressuring students to attend Gandhi’s programme.
