Putin aide first praises Trump, then hints Gaza peace deal may not last; ‘fragile ceasefire…’

At the United Nations Security Council, Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia hailed the newly achieved ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as a “turning point for peace,” crediting U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal involvement for helping secure the truce and the release of all hostages. He praised the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States while urging both sides to uphold the fragile agreement and prevent a relapse into violence. Nebenzia described the ceasefire as a chance for dialogue toward a long‑term settlement based on the two‑state solution—with an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, coexisting in peace with Israel.
