The United Nations says Houthi rebels in Yemen have detained two more U.N. staff members, intensifying a years-long campaign of harassment against international organizations operating in rebel-controlled areas. U.N. Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq condemned the latest detentions, noting that more than 50 U.N. and NGO personnel remain in Houthi custody. The rebels, who have repeatedly raided U.N. offices and seized assets since 2021, claim without evidence that the detainees are spies. The U.N. warned that these escalating actions are forcing a reassessment of operations in Houthi-held regions, just days after a dozen staffers were released following a major raid.
