'Wont end Ukraine war': Germany rules out abrupt end to Russian oil, gas imports

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated an abrupt gas embargo would not bring quick peace to Ukraine. Speaking to Der Spiegel, Scholz said it is important for Germany to avoid a serious economic crisis. As per reports, Germany is currently buying around 25% of its oil and 40% of its gas from Russia. Proceeds from the sale of Russian energy amount to around $1BN/day, eroding efforts to put pressure on Putin.
