China sends warship against Japan, Philippines amid Taiwan war fear

China has sent coastguard ships into waters east of Taiwan after Japan and the Philippines agreed to start delimiting their maritime boundary, a move Beijing calls “illegal” and “void.” As Tokyo and Manila deepen talks on EEZ claims, intelligence‑sharing and even Japanese ship transfers, Xi Jinping is answering with new patrols, warnings and vows to “strengthen control” over contested seas.
