Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned that any NATO military infrastructure in Afghanistan or neighbouring states would be “categorically unacceptable,” arguing that a renewed Western military presence could fuel instability and conflict. Speaking at the Moscow Format consultations on Afghanistan, Lavrov also praised the Taliban’s control of the country and criticised the legacy of the U.S.-led NATO intervention.
