A Pakistan court sentenced former military dictator and president Pervez Musharraf to death in absentia for high treason. Musharraf becomes the first ex-military ruler to be tried and convicted in Pakistan for treason. Musharraf was accused of suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of Pakistan's superior courts.
