A gunman attempted to attack the US embassy in Beirut on June 5, according to the Lebanese army. The Syrian national who was being shot by soldiers was identified by the Lebanese army in a statement. The gunman allegedly has ties to the terrorist organisation Islamic State, according to Saudi TV Al Hadath. According to the U.S. Embassy, there were no casualties from the attack on the embassy.
