UN nuclear watchdog IAEA has called for “maximum restraint” after Iran said that US-Israeli strikes had targeted the Bushehr nuclear facility, AFP reported. As per initial reports, there was no damage or casualties following the strikes.
The Israeli military continued strikes on Lebanon, issuing warnings for residents in the suburbs of Beirut ahead of strikes.
As the conflict between the US and Iran continues to escalate, Pakistan has stepped in as one of the key mediators. Taking to X on Tuesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered to host talks between Washington and Tehran.
This hint at de-escalation comes a day after Trump claimed the US will pause its attacks and strikes on Iranian energy sites and power plants for five days. Trump's announcement came after the US president said he held "productive talks" with Iran, which Tehran has actively denied.
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, who was assumed to the leader that Trump spoke with, said that there had been no such talks with the US, and ridiculed the suggestion as an attempt to manipulate financial markets.
Iran's 'head for an eye' warning to Trump
Iran has issued a fresh warning to the US and President Donald Trump. Speaking to state media, Iran's Military Advisor Mohsen Rezaei has said that the "deadline to save America” is approaching.
In a televised interview with IRNA, the military advisor to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei warned that there was not much time left for the US to "rescue itself from its quagmire."
"If you strike our infrastructure, it will no longer be an eye for an eye, it will be a head for an eye; you will be crippled," Rezeai was quoted as saying, adding that Tehran will "paralyse and drown you [the US] in the Gulf."
Trump dials India's Modi amid conflict
Amid reports of a thaw with Iran, US President Donald Trump also spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the ongoing conflict.
This conversation also marked the first between the two leaders since the war broke out four weeks ago.
"Received a call from President Trump and had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia. India supports de-escalation and restoration of peace at the earliest. Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world. We agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability," Modi wrote on X regarding his call with Trump.
