US Iran war news LIVE: Israel, Lebanon and the US reached an initial trilateral framework agreement aimed at paving the way for ending the conflict between the two countries and ultimately reaching a peace settlement, a senior Israeli official said Friday.

Israel will maintain a “security zone” along the boundaries of the yellow line, which marks a seized territory that stretches some 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into Lebanon from the Israeli border. The latest conflict erupted after Iran-backed Hezbollah joined Tehran in retaliating against Israel following its joint attack with the US on the Islamic Republic in late February.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted the agreement in a brief video statement, saying: “Israel’s continued presence in the security zone in southern Lebanon is a major achievement. We will maintain this presence as long as Hezbollah remains armed and continues to pose a threat to Israel.”

The framework includes the creation of a trilateral coordination group, facilitated by the US, to allow for implementation, according to a State Department release.

“For Lebanon, this framework provides a genuine pathway out of a long crisis,” according to the statement. “For Israel, it creates a verifiable path to removing the persistent threat on its northern border.”

Rezaei said Iran had developed new military capabilities that would be deployed in the event of another war, Press TV reported.

"If the United States or Israel makes even the slightest threat against Iran, the next war will not resemble the previous one," he was quoted as saying. "[US] President Donald Trump should know that this time they would suffer extensive human losses."

Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) Friday identified the ship as the Ever Lovely, which is registered in the city-state.

MPA "is aware that the Singapore-registered container ship EVER LOVELY sustained minor damage to the bridge area from an unknown projectile while leaving the Strait of Hormuz on 25 June" the authority said.

It said, however, that the vessel has "since completed its transit through the Strait of Hormuz and is proceeding on its voyage."

It did not say where the vessel was going, but confirmed Evergreen's statement that the 21 crew members were unharmed.

"MPA is deeply concerned about the incident, which was unprovoked, unjustifiable, and a breach of international law," the authority said.

Evergreen Marine said the ship was off Oman when it was struck by "an unidentified object" while following the UKMTO's recommended route.

"The crew's preliminary inspection revealed damage to the eaves of the bridge superstructure and to the bridge windows," Evergreen Marine said.

"The main engine and all navigation equipment continued to operate normally, and there were no issues affecting the vessel's seaworthiness," it said.

US Iran war news LIVE: Iran has pushed back against the US accusation that the drone attack breached the ceasefire.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s national security commission, defended Tehran’s position and stressed Iran’s authority over the Strait of Hormuz.

“The Strait of Hormuz is governed by Iran, so: Respect the rules,” Azizi wrote on social media, adding that others should “not mistake control for escalation.”

“This is not a violation of the ceasefire; it is ceasefire management,” he said.

US strikes Iran LIVE: Iran on Friday said that its defense capabilities are essential to its national security and cannot be the subject of negotiations or compromise.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei in a post on X said,

"The country's security and national dignity are not negotiable and cannot be made conditional," he said as the joint statement had tried to portray Iran's defense capabilities as a "threat".

"Just as the inherent right of legitimate self-defense can never be a subject of talks, its means cannot be a subject of compromise with any party,” he added.

US strikes Iran LIVE updates: Ongoing peace talks were put at risk after the US struck Iran on Friday in response to what it said was a drone attack a day earlier on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state media, citing an unnamed military source, reported the strike at the port of Sirik after an explosion was heard there, according to Associated Press. The source said several warning shots had been fired from Sirik toward vessels that violated Strait of Hormuz regulations about five hours earlier, adding two warning missiles had also been launched from the nearby Karpan area toward the strategic waterway.

On Saturday, Iran's Mehr news agency cited the head of ports at eastern Hormozgan as saying that there was no damage to the port of Sirik after the attack by the U.S. The official said the port was operating normally with no damage reported to facilities and equipment.

Iran warns

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said that in response its navy "struck the locations where the terrorist US military is stationed in the region" and warned that any further US attacks would be met with a broader response, according to the statement carried on state media.

The ceasefire agreement gives Iran control over ship traffic in the strait, the Guards said.

"However, the United States, by provoking various fronts, sought to violate this commitment, and the necessary response was given and will continue to be given. If the aggression is repeated, our response will be broader than this," the Revolutionary Guards said.
