The United States hopes any oil India purchases from Russia will be at or below the rate set by the Group of Seven's price cap, the White House said on Friday. (ALSO READ | India's Russian oil buying scales new highs in May: Report)

John Kirby, NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications said, “India has to make its own choices about (Russian) oil purchases and we hope that we can continue to see that they purchase Russian oil at or below the price cap, as they have been.”
