The total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, is likely to draw attention not only from skywatchers but also from astrology followers. A solar eclipse occurs on a New Moon day, or Amavasya, when the Sun and Moon line up, and the Moon briefly blocks the Sun’s light.

In astrology, eclipses are generally viewed as periods of change, closure and introspection. However, eclipse-based predictions are not strictly part of classical Vedic astrology, and health-related claims linked to eclipses should not be treated as medical facts.

Astrologer Mr. Krishnan Sampath, shares with Hindustan Times that the total solar eclipse can be used as a period to pause, reflect and reassess different areas of your life.

Total Solar Eclipse's impact on health

According to Mr. Krishnan, Amavasya can bring lower energy levels, mood swings and emotional exhaustion.

“You might notice slight disruptions in your sleep, appetite, or stress levels, though these are quite normal and shouldn't be blamed entirely on the eclipse,” he said.

Instead of worrying about the eclipse, focus on basic self-care. Eat light, home-cooked meals, drink enough water and get proper rest.

Total Solar Eclipse's impact on Career

The eclipse can also become a useful pause for your professional life. You may start questioning your current role, workplace relationships or long-term career plans.

The astrologer advised against making sudden decisions out of frustration.

“Use this time to clean up your workflow, spot what isn't working, and prepare quietly for upcoming opportunities,” he said. Rather than quitting impulsively or taking on major commitments, use this period to review your goals and identify areas for improvement.

Total Solar Eclipse's impact on Love and relationships

Your relationships may also come under the spotlight. An eclipse can bring hidden feelings or unresolved arguments back to the surface.

If you are already in a relationship, patience and honest communication can help you avoid unnecessary conflicts. Instead of reacting immediately, give yourself time to understand what is actually bothering you.

If you are single, this can be a time to reflect on your emotional needs and the qualities you want in a future partner.

The astrologer also recommends caution with money. Avoid risky investments, impulse purchases or major financial decisions without proper research.

You can instead use the period to review your monthly budget, track your savings and plan debt repayments.

From an astrological perspective, this eclipse can be treated as a time to slow down and organise your priorities. Whether you view it spiritually or simply as a reminder to pause, the focus should be on thoughtful decisions rather than fear.
