Sridevi’s husband and producer Boney Kapoor says that the actor will continue to “live on through her work”. The tribute is scheduled to be held on May 16 at Le Majestic Beach, Cannes, and will see Boney Kapoor and their two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, in attendance.
Boney says that he feels happy to see this global recognition for Sridevi. “I’m happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it’s comforting to know that she lives on through her work,” Boney tells us.
The Cannes tribute follows this year’s National Film Awards honour for Sridevi. She posthumously won the Best Actress award for her role as an avenging mother in the Hindi film, Mom (2017). “It’s time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on,” said her family, in a statement released at the time of the National Film Awards.
