I am feeling good, says Shahid Kapoor on impending fatherhood

Meanwhile, the actor is also readying for the release of his next film, Udta Punjab.

Away from the prying eyes, he got married to a Delhi girl, Mira Rajput in a quiet ceremony in Delhi. Ever since, there has been a lot of interest in Shahid’s newly-married life; and now he is soon going to become a father later this year.

While talking exclusively to HT, Shahid says about his impending fatherhood. “I am feeling good (smiles). It’s a very different kind of responsibility. And I feel every father learns how to be a father when he becomes a father as no one can teach that (to you).” Shahid had gotten married to Mira last year in July.

Meanwhile, the actor is also readying for the release of his next film, Udta Punjab. “Even when Abhishek (Chaubey; director) had come to me with the script, he told me that ‘in the first five minutes, you are doing everything wrong but audiences have to start loving you in those five minutes only,” he says.

He adds: Even I was like, ‘how will the audiences respond to it.’ They might have come and said, ‘ye kya kiya tune. Accha bhala you were doing Haider and all.’ So it was playing on my mind.”

But after doing films like Haider and Rangoon (yet to release), Shahid feels “audiences are very receptive to see me in different kind of spaces.” He says: “And I feel happy that now I can afford to take up different kinds of films and know that people are open to it.”
