Karwaan actor Mithila Palkar: I was a wide-eyed child on the set, with Irrfan and Dulquer around

Actor Mithila Palkar is living her dream of acting in films; and with co-stars such as Irrfan and Dulquer Salmaan, it only got better! It’s no surprise then that she’s really excited about it. “It makes us (the team of Karwaan) very happy that the trailer has got a good response. We can’t wait to show the film to everyone. Also, working with my two co-stars was fabulous. I was the youngest on the set, and would observe everything like a wide-eyed child. It was like Disneyland! Shooting for the film was an enriching experience. They (Irrfan and Dulquer) made my job easy,” says Mithila.
The film deals with a road trip, with two dead bodies involved, too. This could easily have gone into the dark, thriller zone, but the final product is far from it. Mithila explains how keeping the tone light took some effort from the makers. “Let me tell you a secret about my director, Akarsh Khurana. He was also the writer (of Karwaan), and he knows how to find humour in everything. He changed his perspective on each situation. Death is seen at an emotional level, but he had the ability to infuse humour in it without trivialising it. That has reflected a lot in the film,” shared the 25-year-old.
At such a young age, Mithila is nothing short of an internet sensation having done a hit web series. Was it easy adjusting to fame? “I don’t know... I was just riding a wave as it was rising, especially when it comes to internet. I am still learning. Also, the roles I have received till now have been good, but the number of characters I have played can be counted on fingers. It’s a nascent journey,” she says.
Her co-star Irrfan announced this year that he’s suffering from a rare disease. How did Mithila take the news? “It was heartbreaking, but you have to face things,” she says, adding, “He’s very brave about it. There’s a lot of love and respect for him. My prayers are with him.”
