On this date 19 years ago, Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released and went on to become a massive hit at the box office.

The 1998 movie continues to remain close to every 90’s kid’s heart. From playing basketball to gifting friendship bands, the movie inspired many trends back then.

The rom-com drama featured Bollywood’s favourite on-screen couple Shah Rukh Khan (Rahul) and Kajol (Anjali), with Rani Mukherjee (Tina) in a supporting role. Salman Khan (Aman) appeared in an extended cameo.

As the 90’s blockbuster celebrates 19 years since its release, here’s a look at six scenes from the movie that inspired internet memes.

1) The hospital scene: When Tina asks Rahul to promise that he will name their daughter Anjali.

2) Here’s another scene that inspired tweeples to unleash their meme-making talent. Anjali gets teary-eyed when she is asked to speak on ‘maa’ at a school function.

3) Rahul and Anjali’s college days had some of the most memorable scenes - one of them was their fight during a basketball match
