New dad-to-be Shahid Kapoor is looking forward to welcoming his second child with Mira Rajput. However, looks like he will not be to manage a substantial paternity leave. The actor, who is currently busy promoting his next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu and has begun his prep for the Hindi remake of Telugu hit, Arjun Reddy, says he can barely manage a week’s off. He will also be seen in a biopic on Asian gold medallist boxer Dingko Singh.

Speaking to Mid Day, Shahid said that while in the case of his elder child Misha, he was off work for several months, in case of his second child, despite his best efforts, he just couldn’t do much. “During Misha’s birth [in 2016], I took a couple of months off. This time too, I was negotiating to take a month-long break, but things didn’t work out. I will get only a week off from work. It is too short a duration, but such are the circumstances.”

Having said so, he agrees that being self employed, he is in a far more advantageous position than others. He is hugely in favour of paternity leaves in different fields of work. “I am self-employed, so I think I have more freedom [to take leaves as per my convenience]. If I don’t want to work for a certain period, I can do that. Having said that, life is all about finding the right balance.”

Shahid says he has been a workaholic for the long time as he began working as a 15-year-old. His mother, Neelima Azim was a single mother and his aim was all about earning money. However, now that also has Mira Rajput and Mishra in his life, he wants to enjoy life as well, which is why he is doing only one film at a time.

That could be one of the reasons why Mira and he, are often spotted enjoying lunches and dinners together. In fact, wife Mira is fast emerging to be quite a star

herself as her fashion sense throughout her pregnancy has come up for much praise. So much so as that as a star wife, even her solo pictures start trending on social media.
