Karan Johar’s ambitious new project Kalank has begun shooting, and looks like some of its cast -- Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapoor -- were caught in a heavy downpour.

Late on Saturday, Varun posted an Instagram story video where he, along with Aditya, was seen shielding from the rains. They also had a message for their producer Karan. Explaining how the monsoon has finally arrived in Mumbai and their plight at the shoot, Varun said, “All the lights have gone and we just have one appeal.”

Aditya joined him and said, “Karan, only you can stop this rain.” Varun, then, chipped in with “Karan, only you can help, help this team.”

In the video Varun went on to say that the director of Kalank, Abhishek Varman, refused to leave the sets.

Directed by Abhishek, Kalank is the epic drama set in the 1940s. The film marks the collaboration of Karan’s Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It boasts of an ensemble cast which also includes Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Kunal Kemmu, Sonakshi Sinha and Kriti Sanon.

Karan recently gatecrashed at the dance practice session of Kalank where Aditya and Kriti were practising. In the video, Karan called Aditya ‘one of the most prolific dancers of the Indian film fraternity’ and Kriti the ‘gorgeous gorgeous Barfi. Not the one you eat but the one you can’t resist.’

Kalank will hit the screens on April 19, 2019.
