Sonakshi Sinha has been keeping quite busy. The actor currently has five films in her kitty, and she’s quite excited about the amount of work coming her way. “Work wise, 2018 is looking amazing. Welcome To New York and Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns (both comedies) were a lot of fun, and then Dabangg 3 when its makers are ready to roll. Two more films are yet to be announced. Personally, I want to improve myself every way I can and find happiness in whatever I do,” says the actor.
Sonakshi is currently in an experimental phase — after a thriller last year, she will soon be seen in a stage reality film (co-starring Diljit Dosanjh). “Not just my career, I think the industry is going through a phase where risks are being accepted. So it’s a great time to be trying different things. It also keeps you engaged as an actor,” she adds.
After working with Karan Johar for the first time on Ittefaq, Sonakshi has joined hands with the film-maker again for a new project. The actor says, “It’s been a lovely experience. He is a wonderful producer. His body of work is so illustrious; there is so much you can learn from him. I like working with people who have an infectious energy. I can’t wait to collaborate with him again.”
The actor will also be seen playing the lead character in the sequel to Happy Bhaag Jayegi (2016), which starred Diana Penty. Ask Sonakshi if she was apprehensive of the role, considering it was earlier played by another actor, and she says, “I wasn’t apprehensive at all. I really liked the first part and how every character contributed to the laughs in their own way. Even in this one, almost all the characters have been retained from the first part. So I found it very interesting how the story was woven around another Happy, which is me.I’ve never worked in such a film.”
While many actors prefer balancing mainstream entertainers with content-driven cinema, some refrain from slapstick comedies when they’re at the peak of their careers. So will Sonakshi ever sign a slapstick comedy here on? “Honestly, I like anything that makes me laugh. It could be slapstick, something smart, or even something really dumb. I’m a jovial person. I have a good sense of humour and it doesn’t take much to make me laugh or for me to make others laugh. But when it comes to being part of films, whatever genre it may be,I have one thumb rule — don’t do anything you can’t watch with your family.”
