Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and IT Minister Manab Mukherjee had repeatedly tried to draw Infosys chief NR Narayana Murthy's attention but had failed so far.
Bhattacharya had even said once that they had got all the big Indian IT companies to invest in the state "and the wait now is for Narayana Murthy".
Now Infosys has agreed to send a team of officials to "check out" Rajarhat, a new township in the city's eastern suburbs that is being nurtured by the state as its next IT hub after Salt Lake.
