Sensex back in positive zone, up 13 points

After falling by nearly 224 points, the benchmark Sensex was back in the positive zone with a rise of nearly 13 points in pre-close trade after the government further cut excise duty rate by two per cent to bring it to 8 per cent.

After falling by nearly 224 points, the benchmark Sensex was back in the positive zone with a rise of nearly 13 points in pre-close trade after the government further cut excise duty rate by two per cent to bring it to 8 per cent.

The BSE-30 shares index, which had lost 223.99 points, rebounded to trade 13.31 points higher at 8,856.52 points in pre-close trade.

The 50-share National Stock Exchange Nifty also recovered by 9.75 points to quote higher at 2,746.20 after dipping to 2,677.55 points.
