The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 17,674.7 points, closed at 17,562.15 points (provisional), up 80.22 points or 0.46% from its previous close at 17,481.93 points.
A benchmark index for Indian equities markets on Friday closed about 80 points higher, paring some of the intra-day gains amid some profit booking.

It had climbed to 17,702.26 points in morning trade.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended higher, 17.6 points or 0.33% up at 5,283.35 points.
Broader markets also gained with the BSE 500 index closing 0.74% higher. The BSE midcap index ended 0.74% up while the BSE smallcap index closed 0.34% higher.
