3 PUSU members held for creating ruckus on campus

High drama prevailed at DAV College on Monday, when two police parties stormed into the venue of a hunger strike, called by members of the Panjab University Student Union (PUSU), and made them leave the college premises.

High drama prevailed at DAV College on Monday, when two police parties stormed into the venue of a hunger strike, called by members of the Panjab University Student Union (PUSU), and made them leave the college premises.

PUSU members Gurbaksh Singh, Gur Lal and Midda were taken to Sector 3 police station and another member Gurdeep was taken to Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, from where he managed to escape.
SHO of Sector 3 police stattion, inspector Harjeet Kaur, said they had received reports that students were creating nuisance under the pretext of hunger strike. Moreover, the college principal had also forwarded a report against the four members to the local police.

Gurbaksh, Gur Lal and Midda will be produced in the court of a local sub divisional magistrate on Tuesday.
Police security around all private and government colleges was beefed up on Monday in the view of upcoming student council elections. The intelligence wing of Chandigarh police is also keeping a close eye on anti-social elements involved in student politics at the college and university level.
