209 roads blocked, orange alert in 3 Himachal districts for Friday
The weather office has also sounded a yellow alert of heavy rainfall for August 13 in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts. For August 15, a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan and Sirmaur districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted heavy showers to continue in parts of the state in coming days, and has sounded an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall for August 14 in Bilaspur, Kangra and Sirmaur districts.
The weather office has also sounded a yellow alert of heavy rainfall for August 13 in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts. For August 15, a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan and Sirmaur districts.
IMD officials said that heavy showers are likely to continue in parts of the hill state till August 18. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely at isolated places over low hills and mid hills during this period.
During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain at most places and heavy rain at isolated places was observed over the state. The highest rainfall of 8 cm was recorded in Dhaulakuan Aws, followed by Jatton Barrage (7 cm), Dharamshala (6 cm), Palampur (5 cm), Paonta (5 cm), Nahan (3 cm), Sarahan (3 cm), Sujanpur Tira (2 cm), Dehra Gopipur (2 cm), Pachhad (1 cm), Murari Devi (1 cm), Bilaspur Sadar (1 cm), and Manali (1 cm).
As many as 209 roads remained blocked in the hill state on Wednesday, with 94 roads blocked in Mandi district alone, followed by 60 in Kullu district, 21 in Shimla district and 10 in Chamba district. Authorities said that 70 water supply schemes also remained disrupted in the state.
