Under the new parking-cum-stacking arrangement, a single contractor will manage the organised parking of vehicles carrying parcels alongside the secure stacking of consignments on station premises

The Firozpur railway division has awarded contracts worth ₹66.50 lakh through an e-auction process to set up dedicated parcel parking and stacking facilities at the Ludhiana and Amritsar railway stations.

Under the new parking-cum-stacking arrangement, a single contractor will manage the organised parking of vehicles carrying parcels alongside the secure stacking of consignments on station premises. Designated spaces will be marked specifically for parcels to prevent shipments from getting mixed up, while vehicles engaged in loading and unloading will be strictly prohibited from parking in unauthorised zones.

According to railway officials, the system will keep transit routes leading to trains clear, thereby minimising traffic congestion and operational bottlenecks within station grounds. The initiative is also designed to enhance administrative transparency while generating steady additional revenue streams for the Railways.
