Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had sent eight teams to different destinations to attract investment ahead of the Global Investors Summit-2023 scheduled in Lucknow on February 10 to 12, 2023.

Eight teams of the Uttar Pradesh government that travelled to 16 countries ahead of the Global Investors Summit scheduled to be held in Lucknow in February received investment proposals worth over 7.12 lakh crore, the state government said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement was issued after chief minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the investment proposals received by the state’s teams at road shows during December 9-19.

It added that the largest share of investment proposals, worth 4 lakh crore, were received from the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA).

According to data provided by the state government, 149 memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed during the visits, which the government estimates, hold the potential of generating over 7,02,415 jobs.

To be sure, not all investment proposals or MoUs signed by governments translate into real projects.

At the meeting, Yogi Adityanath instructed senior officials to remain in touch with companies, institutions and industrial groups abroad which have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UP government during the roadshows.

The chief minister also told officials that a dedicated team should be formed under his leadership and a senior officer nominated as the nodal officer for each country. He added that a follow-up visit may be made to some countries after January 15 if required.

The state government has set a target of attracting 10 lakh crore investment at the global summit scheduled to be held during February 10-12, 2023.

The chief minister said this was the first time that teams from Uttar Pradesh went on a global tour to invite investors from all over the world. “Respected Prime Minister has given the mantra of ‘Triple T’ (Trade, Technology and Tourism) to speed up the pace of development. Uttar Pradesh is continuously moving forward by following the mantra,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath said the success of the road shows abroad will ensure the success of the global summit to be held in Lucknow. “A letter of gratitude will be written on my behalf to the ambassadors/high commissioners of all 16 countries,” the chief minister said.

“Large investment will create a large number of employment opportunities, which will directly benefit our youngsters. The GIS-2023 will become a major contributor in achieving the objective of making the state a trillion-dollar economy,” he said.

The state government is also sending teams of officials led by ministers of state and those with independent charge to different states to seek investments. These road shows in the country should be completed by January 15, he said

The government said apart from Noida, Greater Noida and other areas of western Uttar Pradesh, it has received proposals for investment in projects located in cities such as Gorakhpur, Kashi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Lucknow and Kanpur.
