This will be the eleventh New Town project to be developed by CIDCO in the state.
The Government, in 2019 earmarked the Jalna-Kharpudi as notified area, however, later it denotified the same. After that, CIDCO requested the government to appoint it as a special planning authority to develop the Jalna-Kharpudi area. Accordingly, after consultation, it was decided by the state government to declare the said area as a “New Town” and CIDCO as “Jalna-Kharpudi New Town Development Authority” (NTDA).
According to CIDCO vice chairman and managing director Sanjay Mukherjee, “A thought was put forward that the Jalna-Kharpudi project should be completed by an agency or company of a government-owned or government-controlled corporation or a secondary company, considering the scope and complexity of the work, the time required to set up new machinery for the work, the comparative time required to undertake the work in the public interest and complete it.”
“As per the notification regarding the appointment of CIDCO as NTDA for Jalna-Kharpudi Notified Area, it is subject to the ‘Financial Feasibility Report’ from the CIDCO for the said area at first,” he added. “From the date of the appointment of CIDCO as an NTDA for the Jalna-Kharpudi area any other Special Planning Authority functioning in the said notified area shall cease to function.”
Stated the MD, “CIDCO will prepare and publish the Planning Proposals for the said notified area and submit the same to the Government for sanction after following the due procedure prescribed in the MRTP Act. The Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations shall be applicable for the said notified area.”
Mukherjee said that due to consistent and outstanding performance in the field of town planning and development, CIDCO has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing various new towns in the state.
“CIDCO has successfully fulfilled this responsibility and has developed new Towns like New Aurangabad, New Nashik, Oros, Vasai-Virar sub-region etc. Jalna-Kharpudi New Town is the eleventh project in the New Town projects undertaken by CIDCO,” he added.
