The platform, developed by the central fertiliser and agriculture ministries with consent from the state governments, aims to ensure more transparent and farmer-centric fertiliser distribution. It allows farmers to check real-time fertiliser stocks and book orders directly via their mobile phones.

The initiative was recently rolled out on a pilot basis in 56 districts across 23 states.

It will be implemented in Thane from August 15, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Yadav said on Wednesday.

"The system enables farmers to verify fertiliser availability from home, choose a nearby registered dealer, and complete online bookings seamlessly. By registering via Aadhaar or a farmer ID, users receive a QR code and token number to collect their quota. This will reduce unnecessary trips to agriculture centres, saving both time and travel costs," he said.

Following successful trials in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Kolhapur, the framework expands to Thane and nine other districts. Thane currently has 1,38,862 farmers working across 59,831 hectares of Kharif crop area. Agriculture officials have confirmed there is no shortage of fertilisers, as per the Zilla Parishad's release.

"This online process brings complete transparency, structured planning, and ease to fertiliser distribution. Farmers only need to register their land details, select recommended fertilisers, and present their generated QR code to the vendor for scanning and stock collection," Yadav said.

"The Zilla Parishad is fully prepared for its implementation, and we urge all farmers across Thane district to maximise the benefits of this digital facility starting August 15," he added.

People encountering issues with booking or distribution can contact their local block agriculture officer or quality control inspector for immediate grievance redressal, the release said.
