Two cases were registered at Hariparvat police station of the city for offences, including attempt to murder, one by the son of Ramjilal Suman and another by a policeman on security duty at the residence. Police said that a hunt is on to arrest the named leader of Karni Sena, Okendra Singh Rana who led the attack. Fifteen cops were injured in the attack.
“Videos and CCTV footage are being analysed to identify the accused and soon arrests will be made,” said deputy commissioner of police, Sonam Kumar.
The DCP denied allegations of laxity and said that there were about 2,500 men who moved towards the SP MP’s house, but most of them were stopped after they left the Etmadpur area in the outskirts of the city.
While the city unit president of Congress in Agra, Amit Singh, condemned the attack, calling it a bad precedent, Rajkumar Chahar, the second time BJP MP from Fatehpur Sikri (Agra Rural) justified the attack.
“If one can make any irresponsible statement, then the youth have the right to react,” said Chahar, in a bid to justify the act of Karni Sena.
