In a first, admissions to AU’s UG professional courses through CUET (UG)
For the first time, Allahabad University (AU) is offering admissions to several undergraduate professional courses offered by its Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) and Centre of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (CVSSD) through Common University Entrance Test or CUET (UG)-2023 set to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi
For the first time, Allahabad University (AU) is offering admissions to several undergraduate professional courses offered by its Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) and Centre of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (CVSSD) through Common University Entrance Test or CUET (UG)-2023 set to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi.
“There are seven courses on offer in IPS and one is in CVSSD with the total number of seats available being 468. To seek admission to these undergraduate programmes of AU for the academic session 2023-24, the candidates must appear in CUET (UG)-2023. The registration for CUET (UG)-2023 is open since February 9. The last date for the final submission of the online application form with payment of the fee is March 30,” informed Prof Jayanta Kumar Pati, director (admissions)-2023 of AU.
The eligibility criteria and the number of seats is different for each course, he added.
Prof Pati said that the admission test will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode only. For papers, scheme, toning, eligibility and other information, candidates are advised to check the information bulletin of CUET (UG)-2023 available online at http://cuet.samarth.ac.in from time to time.
In all UG professional courses of AU, the applicant must choose one language (Section I: Hindi/English) as one of the subject combinations for the entrance examination. Furthermore, the applicant will also have to appear in the domain-specific subject test (Section II). General Test (Section III) is compulsory for all applicants, he explained.
The courses available include BA (Fashion Design and Technology) admission to which is open only for female candidates. There are 58 seats for this course. The applicant who has passed/appeared in class 12 from a recognised board of any stream, can apply to this course. This is the only course in which the test for domain subjects in the entrance exam (Section-II) is not required, officials said.
BVoc (Media Production) and BA (Media Studies) with 50 and 58 seats, respectively, BCA (three years) with 100 seats, BCA (five years) with 50 seats, MCA (Data Science) with 50 seats and BVoc (Software Development) with 40 seats are also on offer on AU campus through CUET (UG)-2023. Other UG professional courses also on offer include five-year food and technology programme with 50 seats and three-year BVoc (food processing) with 62 seats, officials added.
