LG asks officials to ensure world-class DDA infra at Dwarka
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu reviewed DDA projects in Dwarka, emphasizing global infrastructure and services for its potential as a premier destination.
New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday conducted a review of key infrastructure and urban development projects of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Dwarka and asked officials to ensure the best global civic infrastructure and services across all DDA projects.
“Dwarka has the potential to emerge as a premier destination for global engagements, given its excellent connectivity through Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), proximity to IGI airport and world-class infrastructure such as Yashobhoomi, upcoming Bharat Vandana Park and the golf course. A comprehensive roadmap must be developed to position these assets as centres for international conventions, exhibitions and business summits,” Sandhu said.
According to officials, the LG also reviewed storm water channels, the golf course project in Sector 24, a proposed five-star hotel project in Sector 23 and locations identified for an IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) hub. He also visited the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre and adjoining areas.
Officials said the stormwater channels have been redeveloped into green corridors with cycling tracks, walkways, public plazas, and solar installations, while also strengthening sewage treatment and pollution control systems. The five-star hotel project is proposed under an annual licence fee model, in which the selected bidder will develop, finance, operate, and transfer the facility, with a minimum of 200 rooms.
He also inspected the golf course project in Sector 24, which includes an 18-hole championship course, six short holes and a driving range. The facility is planned as a pay-and-play public sports infrastructure aimed at promoting golf.
DDA vice-chairman N Saravana Kumar and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
