Suman is the brother-in-law of Dr Sanjay Kumar, head of pharmacology department at Patna’s Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), who had left his home in Bihar’s capital on March 1 for Muzaffarpur but never returned. The next day, his car was found abandoned on Gandhi Setu, the bridge on river Ganga that connects Patna and Hajipur.

Addressing a press conference in Patna on Wednesday, Suman said police are yet to get a clue in the case even though 22 days had passed since Dr Kumar went missing. Demanding a CBI probe,he said, “I am seeking the help of everybody. I want my relative back. We are mentally shattered now.”

“I am afraid the police are not making any progress because the forensic test of the recovered vehicle not done immediately,” he said.

Dr Kumar’s family had lodged a case of kidnapping with the Patrakar Nagar police station in Patna on March 2. The family, however, has not received any ransom call so far.

The police theory initially revolved around suicide, but his body has not been recovered so far.

“We have scanned more than 100 CCTV footages, which show he was alone in his car. No vehicle or person intercepted or followed him. We also quizzed over 52 people, including his colleagues, and found out he was depressed,” said Patna’s senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajiv Mishra.
