Hadapsar residents flag nuisance by anti-social elements along canal, seek police action

Residents of several housing societies near the canal in Hadapsar’s Hingne Mala area have raised concerns over the growing nuisance caused by anti-social elements and urged police to step up action.

Nationalist Congress Party leader Yogesh Sasane said, “More than 200 citizens gathered and raised their concerns about anti-social elements. The police have assured us they will increase their presence and take action.”

Sasane said the canal stretch has become a hotspot for nuisance. “People frequently gather along the canal to consume alcohol, and there have been instances of vulgar comments being passed at women. Earlier, when residents raised complaints, police patrolling was increased, but the problem resurfaced once the vigil reduced,” he said.

He added that multiple housing societies had approached him, prompting the meeting at Kalbhairavnath Temple in the locality.

Mansingh Patil from Kalepadal police station, who attended the meeting, assured residents of action. “We will restart regular patrolling in the area and take strict action against those creating nuisance,” he said. “Citizens should immediately inform the police if they notice any such incidents.”
