PUNE Major parts of Pune are likely to experience sweltering heat as Sivajinagar on Tuesday reported a day temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius was 2.3 degrees Celsius warmer than normal, thus making it the warmest day of the season so far.

In just a day, the maximum temperature in Shivajinagar has seen a jump from 35.8 degrees Celsius on Monday to 37.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, day temperature in Chinchwad touched 38.7 degrees Celsius, whereas Magarpatta reported day temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.
According to Automatic Weather Station (AWS) temperature sensor, Shivajinagar reported day Temperature at 39.6 degree Celsius. However, IMD officials noted that according to Surface observatory record in Max Thermometer in Single Stevenson’s Screen, the day temperature at Shivajinagar was 35.7 degree Celsius which is more authentic for Shivajinagar.
Anupam Kashyapi, head, India meteorological department said that day temperature is likely to remain around 37 degrees Celsius in Pune. “Night temperature across Pune city will remain between 14 to 21 degrees Celsius for the next few days. In Konkan and Goa, a heat wave is forecasted till March 16. But in central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha the weather will remain dry,” said Kashyapi.
