Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is all for playing the national anthem in movie theatres, asking his fans how ‘tough’ is it to stand for a mere 52 seconds.
Gambhir is known for his patriotic messages on social media and had recently declared his lifetime support for the education of a martyred soldier’s daughter.
The left-handed batsman has now questioned those opposing playing the national anthem in movie theatres with a sarcastic remark.
“Standin n waitin outsid a club:20 mins.Standin n waitin outsid favourite restaurant 30 mins.Standin for national anthem: 52 secs. Tough? (sic),” wrote Gambhir.

There were mixed responses to Gambhir’s tweet as the debate rages on whether to play ‘Jana Gana Mana’ theatres before the start of a film.
In order to instil the feeling of ‘patriotism and nationalism’, the Supreme Court had in late 2016 asked movie theatres across the country to play the national anthem, urging the countrymen to ‘show respect’ towards it.
