"It has been good. Today is a big day, if we can get a good result, it would be a pretty good campaign. Was a little bit worried about the weather early on and if we would get enough cricket but the way it has gone, we got pretty decent wickets. Just keeping fingers crossed for good weather and good cricket today. Hopefully we will fall on the right side of the result.

“Our effort against Sri Lanka was even better (than against Pakistan). Sometimes you can play the perfect game and win them but to not be at your best and still be able to fight out a win, everybody contributing. That is the kind of performance that gives you more satisfaction as a coach.”

India vs Sri Lanka Live Score: “Would have batted first too, looks like a dry pitch. We are confident of chasing down whatever Sri Lanka put on the board. This is a good chance to go aggressive with the ball and see what the surface has to offer. We came really close last game, anything about 240 on this surface is good. Our job today is to do well with the ball, and then see what we can do with the bat. The crowd have been brilliant, good support for both teams but probably a bit more for Sri Lanka. Hopefully, they get to witness a good final. Everyone's back after the rest in the last game, Axar is injured so Washington Sundar comes in for him.”

They had put up an opening stand of 80 runs in just 11 overs. And then, Wellalage came in and started turning the game around with his first delivery itself. His victims on the day were Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli,  KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. He then followed up that five-wicket haul with an unbeaten 42 in 46 balls. India will have their eyes on this young bloke this time around.

Then, his run was broken by the marauding Wellalage in the las match between these two sides, as he fell for three. Interestingly, that century is the only prominent score Kohli has managed in this tournament, not because of poor form but rather because he has hardly batted. He was out for four runs in India's first match against Pakistan, then didn't get to bat as the openers did the job against Nepal, scored the century against Pakistan and then fell for three against Sri Lanka before being rested against Bangladesh. His stats at the stadium remain mind boggling - 644 runs in 10 matches at an average of 107.33 and strike rate of 98.47 with four centuries and one half century.

Ahead of the World Cup there is uncertainty around Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen and Kane Williamson for New Zealand; Jason Roy, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer for England; Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Agha Salman and Imam-ul-Haq for Pakistan; Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka and Wanindu Hasaranga for Sri Lanka; Tamim Iqbal, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Ebadot Hossain for Bangladesh; Anrich Nortje, Sisanda Magala and Temba Bavuma for South Africa and Axar and Shreyas Iyer for India

Australia deserve a different paragraph on their own. Captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Travis Head and Cameron Green are the uncertain cases for them thus far.

Kusal Perera was brought in for the game against Pakistan and got them off to a flier, scoring 17 runs in just eight balls, before falling due to an almost freakish run out. He picked a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka's thriller against Pakistan, even limping through his last over. Sri Lanka might go for Dushan Hemantha or allrounder Sahan Arachchige as replacement.

The waterworks had stayed away during India's match against Bangladesh but it doesn't look like that will be the case today. Rain is in the forecast but the good news is that, at the moment at least, we won't have to avail the reserve day. The bad news is that there will could be long, punishing, soul-crushing breaks.

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar recently explained how he has grown to become undroppable in the Indian squad. "He has matured a lot over the years. He had some setbacks in terms of his fitness but he has now worked hard to reach where he is now. He has shouldered the responsibilities very well, and is captaining India in T20s. He gives a lot of balance to the team being an all-rounder," Bangar told PTI.

India vs Sri Lanka Live Score: Shubman Gill had gone into overdrive in the first half of the year. Then, the form came crashing down as soon as India left the comforts of the subcontinent. He seemed to have started to shake off that poor form in the last match of India's tour of West Indies in America and now has rediscovered that early year rhythm. His scores in the last seven ODIs read 77, 9, 10, 67*, 58, 19 and 121. It may be worrying that Gill was found out so comprehensively in England and the West Indies but those are worries for another day. The World Cup is being played in India and the fact that he is finding form in these conditions is the only thing the team management would be caring about at the moment.

The Sri Lankan fans have made the R Premadasa Stadium bounce in recent matches, realising their team really is rising up to the challenge and breaking the duopoly that was expected to exist in this tournament between India and Pakistan. Expect nothing less today.
