Chasing 223 runs, RR reached 228/4 in 19.2 overs, courtesy of Donovan Ferreira's unbeaten 26-ball 52*, which was also packed with six fours and three sixes. Ferreira formed two late partnerships with Riyan Parag (29) and Shubman Dubey (31*). Yuzvendra Chahal removed Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 12th over, handing Punjab Kings the perfect breakthrough in the right moment. A ball earlier, Jaiswal had raced to a fifty and the wicket broke RR's tempo. Jaiswal departed for 51 off 27 balls. Shreyas Iyer failed to form a partnership with Marcus Stoinis, losing his wicket to Nandre Burger in the 18th over. The Punjab Kings skipper registered 30 off 27 balls.

Yash Raj Punja struck again in the 14th over, removing Prabhsimran Singh (59 off 44 balls).
