Sachin Tendulkar leads birthday wishes for Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri
Many cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, took to Twitter to wish current Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri on the occasion of his 56th birthday.
Ravi Shastri, former Indian cricketer and current head coach of the national team, turned 56 on Sunday. Shastri, who also made a name for himself as a commentator of repute post retirement, is an extremely popular figure in the social media circle.

Leading birthday tributes for the Indian cricket team head coach was none other than his former teammate and cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar.
Calling Shastri his friend, Tendulkar acknowledged the encouragement he received from the former all-rounder in the early parts of his career.

Though young cricket lovers have known Shastri as an energetic commentator with a booming voice, he was a more than capable all-rounder during his playing days.
A member of India’s 1983 World Cup winning squad, he represented the country in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs. Shastri reached the peak of his cricketing career during the 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship in Australia.
In that tournament, he amassed 182 runs and claimed 8 wickets. He was the chief architect of India’s victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final, picking up a wicket and scoring an unbeaten 63.

For his stellar performance, he was named ‘Champion of Champions’ there. In the same season, he also hit six sixes in an over in first class cricket and equalled the feat of West Indian great Garry Sobers.
