Seven juveniles allegedly escaped from a correction home in outer Delhi’s Alipur after thrashing and tying up the security guard on Monday night.

According to the police, the juveniles were taken to the Alipur home a week ago after they were transferred from three different shelters over disciplinary issues.

On Monday night, the minors aged, between 16 and 17 years, were reportedly taken for dinner by the security guard Satveer.

The boys told him that they will do the dishes in the bathroom before retiring to their rooms. When they went to the bathroom, four of them allegedly held Satveer and tied him up with pieces of cloth.

“When Satveer resisted, he was beaten up and punched in the face. When he tried to raise an alarm to alert the authorities, the boys stuffed a few pieces of cloth in his mouth. The boys then got out of the bathroom, scaled the 10-feet-high wall of the home and escaped,” a police officer said.

The matter came to fore when Satveer managed to untie himself and alerted the staff at the home. The police were informed and the team searched for the boys in the adjoining areas. They, however, could not be found.

“They were searched in the areas adjoining the correction home. The local police stations were also given information. It appears the boys had been planning the escape for the past one week. They had the cloth handy that they used to tie the guard,” an investigator said.

The police are questioning vendors in the area and are scanning CCTV cameras installed in the neighbourhood to get some clues. The boys, police said, were involved in cases of theft and loot.
