LIVE: L-G stops construction activities till June 17 in Delhi due to pollution
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers’ sit-in protest at the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s office entered its fourth day on Thursday.Kejriwal, along with deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, public works department minister Satyendar Jain and development minister Gopal Rai, have been camping out at Raj Niwas since Monday. The Delhi CM said they would not leave Baijal’s office until their demands were met. The demands include a direction to IAS officers working in the Delhi administration to end their “strike”, action against officers who have struck work for “four months” and approval to his government’s proposal for doorstep delivery of ration to the poor.

PIL in HC to declare Kejriwal’s protest illegal
Delhi-based lawyer Hari Nath Ram has filed a public interest litigation in the Delhi high court seeking to declare the sit-in protest at the L-G office as unconstitutional and illegal as it has brought the government machinery to a standstill.
“The politicians are required to be upholders of the constitution. They should not be the breakers of the constitutional law. The instant circumstances are the illustration of chaotic administrative paralysis which urgently requires to be streamlined,” the plea read.

CPI writes to L-G in support of Kejriwal’s protest
CPI writes to L-G saying, “No constitutional authority of Delhi can bypass or neglect the Govt of Delhi in any matter of Governance of Delhi”. The party says the L-G is duty-bound to meet Kejriwal and his ministers.

Satyendar Jain’s sugar level drops
Satyendar Jain’s sugar level dropped to nearly half of the normal. The minister is on the third day of an indefinite hunger strike.
“We are constantly monitoring his situation. This morning, his vitals were checked and blood level had gone down to 47 units (mg/dL). A normal person should have 90-100 units of it. His blood pressure reading was 110/70, so that is ok,” Director General of Health Services Kirti Bhushan told PTI.
The DGHS said a medical team is regularly monitoring his health condition.
Bhushan said Jain’s pulse reading too dropped to about 64 this morning against a normal of 72, but as long as it is above 60, it is fine.

Kejriwal writes to PM Modi
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal wrote, “Delhi facing unprecedented situation. Request you to get IAS officers to end strike.”
Kejriwal cited instances when the government work was stuck as officers have not been attending meetings with ministers for the past three months.
He said no meeting has taken place between IAS officers and ministers for three months to address the issue of air pollution, even as toxic pollutants in the air reached dangerous levels over the past three days.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia announced on Wednesday that he would go on a fast until Baijal declared the “strike” by bureaucrats illegal and took action against them. On Thursday, he underwent a health check-up at the L-G’s office.
