More than 2000 errant autorickshaw drivers bore the brunt of a renewed crackdown by the traffic police.

More than 2000 errant autorickshaw drivers bore the brunt of a renewed crackdown by the traffic police.

The traffic police since Monday challaned 2,265 drivers and impounded 253 vehicles.

“We have received rising number of complaints against the auto rickshaw drivers. The main motive is to streamline the system on roads,” said Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

Of the impounded vehicles, as many as 65 auto rickshaws bore Uttar Pradesh number plates, he said.
