No agency bothers about potholed, broken Link Road

Surrounded by the clutter of newly regularised colonies from two sides, Chitra Vihar is an island of problems. The colony may have a mere 171 plots, but its residents have an endless list of woes.

Take, for instance, the Link Road. The road remains potholed throughout the year. During monsoon, water-logging is the norm. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is yet to hand it over to the civic body for its upkeep. So, nobody is really bothered about its condition.

"Since the road does not go to Jheel Road, most commuters are forced to turn at Angad Nagar. Here too, the garbage station is always overflowing," pointed out Manu Bhatnagar, an urban environmental planner.

On the other side is the Disused Canal road junction into which five roads merge. The junction, say experts, is a victim of faulty road engineering.

A slum cluster has come up on the land meant for a local shopping centre and has now encroached upon more than half the main road.

As if this was not enough, the main road of the colony - between Chitra Vihar and Swasthya Vihar - is riddled with problems.

Another resident Vaibhav Vishal, a chartered accountant, said, "Anti-social elements openly drink here. Couples have made the road their haunt. PCR vans do nothing about it."
