You have been focussed on making it to the IITs. But cracking the IIT-JEE is no cakewalk. So, do you have a Plan B? Here are some options to chew on.
. Go for a diploma at a polytechnic.

The diploma can be upgraded to the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree by clearing exams given by one of the several professional bodies.
These organisations award diplomas, too. The options include:

Enrol for the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India), or AMIE, exams in electrical, electronics, civil, chemical, IT and mechanical
engineering. AMIE is equivalent to a BE/BTech.

. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (India) conducts technician engineers and associate membership exams, at par with a diploma/degree.

. The Aeronautical Society of India, New Delhi, holds an exam, passing which earns you a credential equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical

. The Institution of Electrical and Telecommunication Engineers’ associate membership exam, called AMIETE, is at par with a Bachelor’s degree.
