IBPS PO Prelims 2017: Analysis of first exam held on October 7

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) PO preliminary examination were held on October 7. The PO Prelims Exam will also be conducted on 8th, 14th and 15th October 2017.

The IBPS PO Preliminary Examination that was conducted online had 100 questions. The time duration to solve the questions was 60 minutes. Candidates who will appear in the upcoming shifts have to manage those 60 minutes themselves while dealing with three sections- Reasoning (35 Ques), Quantitative Aptitude (35 Ques), and English (30 Ques).

English Language (Moderate- Difficult)

The level of English Language was Moderate- Difficult. The reading comprehension was related to eCommerce in the 3rd shift. There were 2 questions of Antonyms and 1 question of synonym within the given passage. The level of Error Detection questions was Moderate. The maximum number of error related questions were on subject-verb agreement.

Quantitative Aptitude ( Moderate-Difficult )

The pattern remained the same in 1st and 2nd shifts whereas variations were seen in the 3rd shift. Instead of Number Series there were questions on Quadratic Equation in this Section. The level of quantitative aptitude section was Moderate. If you are yet to appear for IBPS exam, then the first and most basic tip to help you clear quantitative aptitude section’s cut off is that you should work on your calculation speed. There were only 2 sets of DI:

Reasoning Ability (Moderate)

Reasoning section of Shift-1 and Shift-3 had same pattern but the second shift showed a little variation. Instead of Syllogism, there were questions on coding-decoding. There were 4 Puzzles and Seating Arrangement which are given below:-

• Linear (2 Variable)

• Circular (1 Variable - in and out arrangement)

• Day and Color (2 Variable)

• Box and Floor (2 Variable)
