Chandigarh Haryana education minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Wednesday said that to improve the quality of education, untrained teachers in the state will be provided online BEd and JBT training with the Centre’s assistance.

The minister was speaking after a video conference with Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar in Sirsa on Wednesday.

Javadekar interacted with education ministers and secretaries of states and union territories, and the directors of NCERT, on the necessary steps to be undertaken for improving school education.

It has been decided to provide online training to 11 lakh untrained teachers working in schools throughout the country, Sharma said.

These include five lakh teachers in private schools and six lakh in government high schools. Advertisements for the same would be issued soon after training, he added.
