In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,41,578 registered voters for Didarganj assembly seat, out of which 1,85,987 were male and 1,55,591 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Didarganj constituency had 13 candidates for assembly seat contention. Didarganj was one of 19 seats won by the Bahujan Samaj Party. It was a close contest with Bahujan Samaj Party's Sukhdev Rajbhar winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Adil Shaikh by a margin of just 3,645 votes.
91.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bahujan Samaj Party's Sukhdev Rajbhar grabbed a total of 62,125 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Adil Shaikh got 58,480 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Krishna Murari bagged 49,979 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 33.4%, 31.5% and 26.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Adil Sheikh defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Sukhdev Rajbhar by 2,227 votes.
