In 2017, 7 candidates were contesting for Fatehabad assembly constituency seat. Fatehabad was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Jitendra Verma won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party's Rajendra Singh by a margin of 34,364 votes.

98.2% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Jitendra Verma grabbed a total of 1,01,960 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Rajendra Singh got 67,596 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Umesh Sharma Saithiya bagged 35,050 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 48.9%, 32.4% and 16.8% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Chotelal Verma beat Samajwadi Party's Rajendra Singh by 236 votes.
