On Monday morning, Alia Bhatt surprised fans and celebs alike as she posted a picture of herself and husband Ranbir Kapoor looking at an ultrasound from a hospital bed. Alia took to Instagram on Monday morning to share a picture of herself lying on a hospital bed, looking at what appeared to be an ultrasound image. Ranbir Kapoor could be seen sitting with her with his back to the camera. As she shared the picture, fans and celebs congratulated the couple. Given that Ranbir and Alia tied the knot only two months ago, many fans refused to believe it. Some suggested the post was actually for their ‘work baby’-- Brahmastra, their first film together, which releases on September 9.
Alia’s father filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt seemed to put all speculations to rest though. On Monday afternoon, Mahesh spoke to Etimes and said, “Ah, my baby is going to have a baby! I am so happy for Ranbir and Alia. May our ‘tribe’ increase. And now I have to prepare for the most important role of my life: The role of a Grandfather. This is going to be a grand debut.”
Earlier, speaking with Hindustan Times, Alia’s mother actor Soni Razdan had said, “We are overjoyed and overwhelmed. Words really don’t do justice to this moment. I am just so so happy for Ranbir and Alia and for all of us. There is nothing greater or more profound in this world than bringing another life into it.”
Alia and Ranbir began dating after working together on the sets of Brahmastra in 2017. They tied the knot on April 14 this year in a private and intimate ceremony held at their Bandra residence, which was attended only by family and close friends from the industry.
